Address is Approximate - Tom Jenkins

Address Is Approximate is a short animation created by director Tom Jenkins, in which a desk model is able to take a trip around the world in a toy car using Google maps and street view.
The lighting and background in this animation change in relation to the place that the model is visiting, for example, when he is driving through a city scene, objects such as boxes and computer hard drives pass by to create the effect of driving past skyscraper buildings, and when the character is driving through a rain forest scene, house plants move across the desk to create the effect of driving by the trees.
Lighting is also used creatively in similar ways: desk lamps move around to create the effect of lighting while driving through a tunnel, and also to emulate natural light, such as sunrise and sunset.
This stop-motion film has an instrumental soundtrack which gives a pleasant feel to the animation.
Although the animation is short and the desk model is not the predominant feature in all the shots, the audience is still able to make a connection with him and his longing to be free and explore.
This could also be a metaphor for people who work office jobs and do not get much time to travel and experience the world outside.
I personally like this short animation and the way it uses stop-motion techniques in a creative way that most would not have thought of. The character and concept was simple yet affective, and the animation had an overall pleasant feel about it.
